Chicago Research Paper Format

Turabian’s Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations (8th ed.), which is largely based on CMOS with some slight alterations.

Please use the example at the bottom of this page to cite the Purdue OWL in CMOS.

Unlike many citation styles, CMOS gives writers two different methods for documenting sources: the Author-Date System and the Notes-Bibliography (NB) System.

Use the following guidelines when setting up your paper.

It is easiest if you use the correct settings from the beginning; otherwise you will have to go back and reformat your paper.

Citations can be exported directly to your Google Drive, or to Word or other formats.

Your teachers expect to receive papers that are properly formatted and laid out.

Overall page layout The library subscribes to Noodlebib, a citation management tool. Go to your Menlo gmail and click on the 9-box "waffle." Noodlebib is in the same place as Haiku. Go to the Noodletools home page and log in under Google for Education with your Menlo Gmail username and password (this is the best way to use Noodlebib on a mobile device).
